The LONGBRIDGE 100 Backyard Ultra

The Longbridge 100 is a backyard ultra held near Alfriston. Runners begin a new lap on the hour, every hour; the event continues until only one runner remains to start an additional lap. Each loop must be started at the bell and completed within the hour to count.

The course is at least 4.167 miles and is described elsewhere as 4.2 miles (6.78 km). It follows a mix of single paths and farm access roads with natural chalky flint and gravel underfoot; the surface may change with weather. Winter and summer versions have different elevation profiles, listed as 180 m for Winter and 190 m for Summer.

Race operations include a timing app (Webscorer) plus manual lap recording, and a compulsory token pickup at the second turnaround on every lap; failure to return a token results in disqualification. Competitors must wear a running watch to record laps. Rules specify no personal aid while on a loop, no non-competitors on course, no artificial aids, and a fixed starting corral at the hour.

Event capacity is limited (maximum 50 entrants). The Summer 2026 Silver ticket allocation lists 40 general spaces with 10 reserved for a waiting list ballot. Entry prices are shown in a range of GBP 125–150. The event provides on-site aid with drinks and snacks, covered barn space, toilets and separate female changing areas, first aid cover, and charging power. Sustainability measures include single-use plastic reduction, reusable bibs, local sourcing, shuttle transfers, and recycling/composting plans.
