The Hateful 8 Ultra (the winter Edition)

The Hateful 8 Ultra is a lap-format event held on Saturday 3 October 2026 at the Bridgend and District Model Engineering Society, Fountain Road, Aberkenfig, Tondu, Bridgend CF32 9BZ, Mid Glamorgan, United Kingdom. The course uses a 9 mile route that participants attempt to complete as many times as possible within an eight hour time limit.

The route is mixed terrain and includes a steep hill, a road section with extended views, and a downhill forestry trail that can be technically demanding in places. The course description notes occasional unexpected features on the route.

Entry is restricted to people aged 18 to 75 on the event date. Entry options listed are an entry only fee of £50.00 and an entry plus t-shirt fee of £77.00. Entries open 5 October 2025 and close 2 October 2026. Volunteers at the organiser's events may be eligible to receive a free race entry.

On-site provisions include car parking, toilet facilities, hot and cold drinks and snacks, a medical team, and event volunteers. Finishers receive a bespoke medal or trophy and a swag bag. A multi-distance trail event on the Gower Peninsula with options from 10 km up to 100 km and a figure of eight 100 km route. Basecamp at Penrice Castle offers camping, regular rest stops, GPS tracking, catering and medical support.

Trail races on the private Merthyr Mawr Estate within Merthyr Mawr Warren National Nature Reserve, featuring a 12K course and a new 40K route that extends along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast.

Three coastal trail races follow the Wales Coast Path to a shared finish at Cardiff Bay, offering 100 miles, 50 miles and 30 miles routes with marked navigation, checkpoints and drop bag support.

A traditional off road fell race to Selworthy Beacon on Exmoor of about 4 miles with 1000 ft of ascent and descent. The course is self navigated with compulsory checkpoints and prizes for summit firsts and category winners.
