The Hard Yard

The Hard Yard is a trail running event held at Chilton Manor Farm in the Candover Valley near Alresford. The event features a primary 10 mile trail route that uses private estate trails and includes about 240 m of elevation. The finish is on an 800-year-old yew tree-lined avenue that provides a long, straight home straight and views across the estate.

The route combines wide gravel tracks, shale paths, compact rural paths and single-track sections, with downhill and uphill stretches including Juniper Hill and Furzedown Wood. Organisers provide on-course marshals, two water stations plus water at the start and finish, medic cover, toilets and race timing with live results. A bespoke sustainable finisher medal and event photography are included.

On site there is a pop-up event cafe with coffee and food, spectator walking routes of around 2 km, and event parking (fee payable at the gate). GPX and Strava route files are published before the event. The route uses private land and access is only permitted on race day; recceing the course outside the event would be trespassing. A four race summer series at Dinton Pastures Country Park offering 5 km, 10 km and a 2 km kids race on a traffic free off road course. The event includes chip timing, marshals, medals and on site first aid.

Trail running event around West Dean Gardens and the South Downs with distances from 30km to 100km. Organised by Threshold Sports with signposted routes, pit stops and chip timing.

Pretty Muddy Southampton is a 5k mud obstacle course at The Common featuring climbing, crawling and sliding. The event supports Cancer Research UK, has a minimum fundraising target of £50 and is open to participants aged 13 and over.

Run the Seasons at Cowdray on 26 June 2026 offers 3km and 5km races plus a 10km with dog friendly CaniRun options. The event includes stacking medals, course maps, free photos and an on site BBQ and bar.
