The Hard Yard : Blended Trails

The Hard Yard is a trail running event held at Chilton Manor Farm near Alresford. The main race is a 10 miles trail route that uses private land and established tracks through farmland, woods and open countryside. The course records about 240 m of elevation and is listed on Strava at roughly 10 miles / 16.09 km.

The route includes wide gravel tracks, shale paths, field sidings and compact rural paths, with single-track sections through Furzedown Wood and views toward Winchester and the South Downs. Key route features listed by organisers include Breach Farm, Brown Candover, the Oxdrove Way and Juniper Hill, finishing on an approximately one mile Yew Tree lined avenue at Chilton Manor Farm, an 800 year old landmark.

Facilities and services at the event include two on-course water stations plus water at the start and finish, on-course marshals, medic cover, toilets and race photography. Entrants receive a sustainable finisher medal. A pop up event cafe operates at the venue serving coffee and food. Event parking is available on site for a fee and organisers encourage car sharing. The route is made available as Strava and OS/GPX files before the event and access to parts of the course is restricted to race day because sections cross private land.
