The Great Ski Race 2027 takes place on March 7, 2027 at the Tahoe Cross Country Center in Tahoe City, California. The event offers two nordic ski loop options that both start and finish at the center.
Distances
- 26km loop around Mt. Watson with varied terrain and north Lake Tahoe vistas.
- 10km loop that stays low on the undulating trails of the nordic center.
A non-competitive Tour Wave allows participants to ski the 26km course without timing or posted online results; participants must self-start at TXC within the organizer’s designated start window and the wave is limited to the first 35 registrants. Both the 10km and 26km races are followed by a finish line party with food and live music.
Registration is capped at 800 and fees increase in stages up to race day. The Great Ski Race is the main fundraiser for Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue; proceeds support equipment purchases and winter survival and avalanche education programs. Refunds are not available.
Early bib and T-shirt pickup is available on February 27 and February 28. Race day bib pickup is available on March 7. Awards are presented for overall times (men and women) and for age groups from 9 and under through decades of age. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
