The Great Ski Race 2027
The Great Ski Race 2027 is a nordic ski event on March 7, 2027 at the Tahoe Cross Country Center in Tahoe City, California. The event offers two loop courses that both start and finish at the nordic center.
Distances available:
- 26 km loop from Tahoe Cross Country Center
- 10 km loop from Tahoe Cross Country Center
The 26 km route goes around Mt. Watson and offers views of north Lake Tahoe. The 10 km route stays lower on the undulating trails of the nordic center. Both courses contain varied terrain. Each race is followed by a finish line party with food and live music.
A noncompetitive Tour Wave is available for the 26 km course. That wave is not timed and does not have posted online race results. Tour Wave participation is limited to the first 35 registrants, and skiers in that wave are expected to know the course and yield to racers.
Registration is the same for either distance and increases at set dates as the event approaches. Registration is capped at 800 participants. The Great Ski Race is the main fundraising event for Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue; proceeds are used to purchase equipment and to support winter survival and avalanche education programs. Packet pickup is offered on February 27 and February 28, with additional pickup on race day. Awards are given for overall times and for age groups.
