Point Mariah Trail Marathon
The Point Mariah Trail Marathon is set for August 1, 2026 on protected Royal Gorge land near Soda Springs, California. The event is organized by Donner Party Mountain Runners with land use partners including the Truckee Donner Land Trust, Soda Springs Ski Resort, and the U.S. Forest Service.
The full course is a multi-loop route made of five segments that return to a single central aid station at Soda Springs Road each time. The marathon distance is approximately 26.4 miles with about 4,300 feet of total vertical gain. Elevation ranges from roughly 6,800 feet at the start and finish to just over 7,600 feet on Razorback Ridge. Trails are approximately 85% single track and 15% double track and dirt road.
The five segments tour different areas of the Royal Gorge land and vary in length and climb. Individual segments include climbs up Soda Springs hill, the Point Mariah overlook, and Rowton Peak, with segment distances around 4.26 to 5.8 miles and per-segment gains of about 700 to 900 feet. Runners will pass the central aid station four times.

Logistics note: parking is restricted to Soda Springs Ski Resort; no parking is allowed along the course. A shuttle will run between the resort and the aid station.
