The Great Carradale Canter 2026

The event takes place on Sunday 26 July 2026 at Carradale Harbour, Carradale East, Kintyre, Argyll. It is organised by Carradale Community Trust. Entries close midnight Thursday 23 July 2026.

The race offers three distances:

  • 10K - £20; first and second trophies; first veteran prize; men's and women's races
  • 5K - £15; first and second trophies; first veteran prize; men's and women's races
  • Under 16 5K - £9; first and second trophies

There is a £2 discount for Scottish Athletics members; proof of membership must be shown at registration. Race timing is electronic using ankle bands. Entrant packs will include a course map that is emailed to participants.

The 10K route begins on local roads, then goes to Carradale Bay, forest roads and returns through village streets and fields to Shore Road and the harbour. The 5K follows a similar route with a shortcut at the B879. The listed 5K distance is actually 5.7K.

Some 10K sections use public paths and there are no road closures. Off-road parts include country paths and the beach and may be muddy, uneven or slippy depending on weather. Headphones are not permitted during the race. All participants must follow directions from marshals, the Coast Guard and police.

There is no parking at the harbour car park. Parking is available at the primary school, Port na Storm and the village hall; these areas will be clearly marked. Racegoers and supporters are advised to walk to the start area at the harbour.

Water stations are located at the caravan site road after the beach, at the Carradale Network Centre and at the finish line. Traybakes will be available at the finish line and tea and coffee will be available at the harbour for entrants and supporters.

Race places cannot be transferred or refunded once entered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
