Festival of the Feet

The Georges River Festival of the Feet is a community running event hosted by the Western Districts Joggers and Harriers. Held at Lake Gillawarna within Mirambeena Regional Park in Georges Hall, the festival takes place in a scenic environment featuring wetlands, gum trees, and various birdlife. The courses primarily utilize paved pathways with some short grass sections, and road running shoes are suitable for the terrain.

Participants can choose from the following distances:

  • 3 km
  • 7 km
  • 14 km
  • 21.1 km

The half marathon distance has a minimum age requirement of 16 years and a time limit of 3 hours for result recording and marshal support. The 3 km event is open to strollers and prams, though these participants are asked to start at the back of the pack for safety. Dogs are not permitted to participate in the races but are allowed in the start and finish precinct if kept on a lead.

The event offers individual, family, and team entry options. For the 7 km event, teams of up to six people can register, with the fastest four times counting toward a team trophy. All finishers receive a medal, and trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each distance and age group.

Facilities on-site include a gear drop-off area managed by volunteers and several drink stations located along the course at regular intervals. Parking is available within Mirambeena Regional Park at designated areas near the start and finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
