Distances and Categories
The event offers a wide range of distances and categories:
- Marathon (42.2 km)
- Half Marathon (21.1 km) – minimum age 17.
- 10K – minimum age 15.
- 5K – categories for adults, runners aged 11-16, and for runners aged 8-10 which includes an accompanying adult entry. Special terms apply for the 8-10 category.
- 2 Mile – categories for adults, runners aged 10-16, and for runners aged 6-9 which includes an accompanying adult.
- Junior races over 200m (for ages 0-5) and 1 mile (for ages 6-12).
- Virtual Events are also available.
Event Information
The event supports the New Forest Marathon Community Fund, a registered charity that has raised funds for local community groups and health projects. Race marshals and helpers often represent these community groups.
All race routes share the same start and finish experience. The course terrain is not currently suitable for wheelchair access, and cyclists or child buggies are not permitted to accompany runners.
Although not recommended by the organizers, the use of personal audio devices like headphones is permitted at the 2026 event; no disqualification will occur for their use. The organizers endorse Aftershokz headphones as they allow runners to hear their surroundings.
