The Fauna Trail Running Festival

The Fauna Trail Running Festival takes place on Sunday, 13 September 2026 in Fauna Forest, Donard, Co. Wicklow. The event offers multiple measured route options on country road and forest trail designed to showcase the Fauna forest.

Distances include:

  • The Fauna 5 Mile - Approximately 5 miles of country road and forest trail
  • The Fauna 10 Mile - Approximately 10 miles of country road and undulating forest paths
  • The Fauna Half Marathon - Approximately 13 miles on country road and undulating forest trail

Courses are fully marked and marshalled with regular checkpoints. Safety provisions include first aid stations and toilets. The event provides post-race refreshments, with tea and coffee served in Donard Hall. The route selection permits the use of running poles and includes provision of toilets and period products on site. The half marathon has a cut-off time of five hours.

The festival is organised by Trail Criú in partnership with She Summits Trail Running, Simple Strength Leixlip and Mountaineering Ireland. Entry includes a buff and an earlybird discount for the first 150 entries using code EARLYBIRD. Places are strictly limited to reduce environmental impact. A summer mountain running event in Trooperstown County Wicklow on 15 July 2026 with marked long and short courses, mandatory Level B kit and required carpooling due to very limited parking.

A 127 km ultra along the Wicklow Way from Marlay Park to Clonegal with 3,665 m of ascent and a 21 hour limit. Entry requires pre approval and a mandatory Level C kit; GPS is permitted and only major junctions are marked.

Trail races at Glen of the Downs in County Wicklow include an 8.15 km route and a 4.88 km junior route, both fully marked. Mandatory basic kit includes a showerproof windproof jacket and parking is at the Outdoor Living car park.

A 10 km mountain run in County Wicklow with about 680 m ascent on an unmarked route visiting Art's Cross, Fair Mountain and White Hill. Part of the Leinster Championship, mandatory Level C kit is required and GPS is not allowed.
