The Fauna Trail Running Festival
The Fauna Trail Running Festival is a community-led trail running event in Fauna Forest, Donard, Co. Wicklow on Sunday 13 September 2026. The event is organised by Trail Criú with partner organisations and is delivered by volunteers as a not-for-profit event; proceeds support Trail Criú.
Multiple route options are offered to showcase the forest trails and nearby country roads. Entry benefits and event services are described as follows.
- The Fauna 5 Mile: approximately 5 miles of country road and forest trail.
- The Fauna 10 Mile: approximately 10 miles of country road and undulating forest paths.
- The Fauna Half Marathon: approximately 13 miles on country road and undulating forest trail.
Courses are fully marked and marshalled. Safety provisions include first aid stations, regular checkpoints and toilets. Post-race refreshments are provided in Donard Hall. The event notes accessibility features such as permission to use running poles and availability of toilets and period products. A 5 hour cut-off time applies to the half marathon. Places are limited to reduce environmental impact. Distance changes were permitted up to 25 August and name transfers were available until ten days before the event; tickets were non-refundable. An earlybird discount and an entry buff were available for the first 150 entries. The festival is presented in partnership with several local and national organisations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
