The East Coast Chuffer

The East Coast Chuffer is an off-road running event based in Scarborough. The course starts at Peasholme Park and follows the Cinder Track, a historic former railway line. The route provides a variety of scenery, including coastal views, woodland sections, and stretches reflecting the nostalgic character of the old railway.

Participants can select from several distance options:

  • 5K
  • 10K
  • Half Marathon
  • 20 Miles
  • Marathon

The event uses different course layouts depending on the chosen distance. The Half Marathon consists of two laps of a 6.7-mile loop, while the Marathon involves four laps of the same circuit. Specific maps are also provided for the shorter 5K and 10K routes, as well as the 20-mile distance.

Water stations are positioned approximately every 3 miles along the course to assist with hydration. Registration takes place on the morning of the event at Peasholme Park, where runners collect their race bibs. Parking is available at various council-run car parks around the park and along the Scarborough seafront, where standard local charges may apply.
