The East Coast "Chuffer" : event overview

The East Coast "Chuffer" is a series of off road races based at Peasholm Park, N Bay Promenade, Scarborough YO12 7TR. The route follows the old railway line known as the Cinder Track and combines coastal views, woodland stretches, and sections with railway character. Route maps are provided for each distance.

Distances on offer include:

  • 5K
  • 10K
  • Half Marathon (6.7 mile loop run twice)
  • 20 Mile
  • Marathon (6.7 mile loop run four times)

On the day registration is used and bibs are collected at registration. Parking is available in council carparks around Peasholm Park and on the seafront; council charges may apply. Water stations are located at approximately every 3 miles along the route. Every finisher receives a Grim Bling medal.

Past participant feedback in the source material noted friendly marshals, refreshments at the finish, and clear signage in many cases. The same feedback also mentioned that some courses ran slightly short on distance and that occasional marking or marshal placement issues affected a few participants. Spaces for the event are limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
