The Drop - Worcester

The Drop in Worcester is an offsite navigational challenge where participants are transported blindfolded to an undisclosed drop-off location and must return to the event centre using no external navigational aids. Registration involves surrendering electronic devices and watches; participants receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag.

Distances available include:

  • 6 mile
  • 10 mile
  • 15 mile

From the drop point participants must find their own route back. Distances are measured as the crow flies, so actual travel may be longer. Blindfolds can be replaced with blackout safety goggles or an alternative if required. Rules include no GPS use while competing, no unauthorised maps, no shortcuts, and maintaining the seal on the emergency bag; breaking the seal leads to disqualification.

Live GPS tracking is offered as an optional, paid feature for safety and spectator viewing. Trackers are accurate to about 5 metres but can be affected by buildings and poor signal. Trackers should be placed where they have a clear view of the sky and must be returned after the event or a replacement fee of £175 will apply. Organisers retain additional safety features not available to participants.

The event is based in Worcester. Parking is available in the town centre, the nearest railway station is a ten minute walk from event HQ, and the bus station is about five minutes away. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
