The Drop - Bath

The Drop is a navigation challenge where uncertainty is deliberate. Participants are taken to an unknown location and must find their own way back to the event centre at Lulu Caffe, 1 Hot Bath St, Bath BA1 1SJ. There are no markers, no directions, and no reassurance.

Participants choose one of three distance options:

  • 15 miles: dropped roughly 15 miles as the crow flies from the event centre.
  • 10 miles: same rules and deployment in a shorter format.
  • 6 miles (non-locals only): dropped 6 miles as the crow flies; open only to non-locals.

At registration participants hand over electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. They receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag that must be carried for the duration. Deployment uses a bus and blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives; participants will not know their location or orientation when they are dropped. When blindfolds are removed, participants' time starts and they must travel on foot to return to the event centre.

Rules include no GPS, no unauthorised maps, on foot only, and disqualification if the emergency bag seal is broken. Live GPS tracking is available as an optional feature for convenience and safety; trackers must be returned or a replacement fee applies. Entry prices range from £35 to £55. Participants are responsible for reading the provided FAQs covering kit, safety, and cut-off information. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
