The Cumby

Cumberland, Canada • 2 May 2026

Event details

The Cumby 2026 is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026. The event is organized by the Comox Valley Road Runners and will meet at Race Central in Village Park beneath the Douglas fir trees. The organizers say the planned routes will be completely runnable and that the course start allows competitors to spread out before the first climb.

Race programme

The event will include multiple trail races and a new short course for youth and new trail runners. Distances include:

  • Full Cumby - route updated for 2026
  • Half Cumby
  • Quarter Cumby
  • 4.5 km CUMBINO

All race routes join at Aid Station 3 for the CUMBINO connection. Registration for 2026 opens on February 1, 2026. Youth under 19 have reduced registration fees and additional youth medal categories are planned.

Community and fundraising

The Cumby Trail Race supports the Cumberland Community Forest. Over the past decade the event has raised more than $268,000 for the forest, and recent post-race cheques have exceeded $40,000. The organising team also highlights volunteer roles such as aid station staff, course sweeps, first aid attendants, and familiarization run leaders.
