The Cove races take place at Mountain Cove Farms within McLemore Cove, a valley between Lookout Mountain and Pigeon Mountain near Chickamauga, GA. The site is described as a transition zone between the Cumberland Plateau and the Ridge and Valley province. It lies about 45 minutes from downtown Chattanooga, TN and Fort Payne, AL, and about 1 hour from Dalton, GA.

All distances begin in The Cove and include early climbs up Pigeon Mountain. Course features mentioned include Rocktown, Ellison's Cave (participants are kept clear of its hazards), the ghost town of Estelle, Whiskey Hollow, Pocket Falls, the High Point Overlook, and the Estelle Mines Trail with old railroad tunnels.

The 50K has a 10-hour time limit. Registration closes March 10 at 11:59 PM ET and registering by February 27 guarantees a race shirt. Runners using Crockford-Pigeon Mountain WMA must purchase a day-use Combo Hunting/Fishing short-term license for the race day at a cost of $5.
