Event overview

The Cold Norton Charity Winter Trail event takes place on 08 February 2026 at Charity Farm, Crows Lane, Woodham Ferrers, Essex CM3 8RT (what3words: boasted.bordering.force). The event raises funds for Farleigh Hospice and has a total of 120 places available. Entries close on 28/01/26 or sooner if places sell out.

Race details

There are two route options:

  • 10 km
  • 13.1 miles (half marathon)

Both routes are mainly on grass, tracks and paths in the countryside around Woodham Ferrers and nearby villages. Routes are unmarked and run as narrative routes - participants receive written instructions and some tape will mark trickier places. There are no marshals. The event is not chip timed; organisers will provide timing but it is not electronic chip timing.

Logistics and entries

Parking is close to the start and finish and there will be toilets and handwashing facilities. There is no bag drop. Aid stations are provided, but the event is cupless - participants must carry their own cup or drink bottle as no cups will be available at aid stations. Dogs are not permitted. Refreshments will be available at the finish, including hot and cold drinks and homemade cakes; cash donations for refreshments are welcome.
