The Charity Christmas Run at Rathfinny takes place on 28 December 2025 at Rathfinny Wine Estate near Alfriston in the South Downs National Park. The event is limited to 75 places and is open to local entrants aged 16 and over on the event date. Entry is priced at £12.50 and £8 of each entry fee is donated to the WOLO Foundation, a local charity supporting families affected by cancer.

The course consists of two loops of 5 km each around the vineyard, with views across the South Downs. The terrain is mainly grass and chalky/flint trail with undulating hilly cambers in places.

Race details and facilities

The event is a cupless event: runners must bring their own water vessels. Water will be available only at the start/finish area. Race HQ is located near The Tasting Room and car parking is provided near the Cellar Door and Tasting Room; a £5 donation applies for single-use parking, while cars with two or more runners are exempt from the parking charge. Portable toilets will be available near The Hut.

Additional information: bag drop is permitted at the start at the owner’s risk and must be clearly labelled with race number and name; MedExPlus will provide medical cover; there are no changing facilities on site. Light trail shoes are recommended if dry, with more robust trail shoes suggested in wet conditions. A bottle of Rathfinny Sparkling Wine will be awarded to the first male and first female. Celebrate the season with MV Festive Orienteering at Buchan Country Park on 14 December, exploring woodland trails around the lakes. Courses for all levels, family friendly and every finisher gets a warm drink and mince pie.

Join the Westfield 7.5km trail on 28 December 2025, organised by 1066 Trail Races. Fully marked and marshalled, the scenic loop passes Farbanks Henge and finishes by The Plough Pub with tea and cake.
