The Christmas Charity Run at Rathfinny
The Christmas Charity Run at Rathfinny is a fundraising event held at the Rathfinny Wine Estate in East Sussex. The course consists of two 5 km loops around the vineyards, situated within the South Downs National Park. The route follows trails through the vines, featuring grass, chalk, and flint surfaces with undulating hilly cambers.
This event is limited to 75 participants and is intended for local runners to minimize the ecological impact on the estate. A significant portion of the registration fee is donated directly to the WOLO Foundation, a charity that provides practical support to families in Sussex affected by cancer.
- 10 km (2 x 5 km loops)
The event follows a sustainable, cupless policy. Water is available at the start and finish lines, but participants must bring their own hydration vessels as no cups are provided at aid stations. Facility services include portable toilets near the parking area and a bag drop at the start/finish point. There are no changing facilities on-site, so participants are advised to arrive ready to run.
The estate is located near Alfriston village, approximately three miles from the sea. The terrain can be influenced by weather conditions; trail shoes are recommended, especially if the ground is wet. Top finishers in the male and female categories receive a bottle of sparkling wine produced on the estate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
