The Black Bull 15 Trail Runs

Chelmsford, United Kingdom • 16 Aug 2026

The Black Bull 15

The event on 16 Aug 2026 offers a trail run and a social hike, and is organised to mark the organiser's 20th anniversary; merchandise and medals will reflect the milestone. A TRA race permit is listed as 6613 (TBC). Entry is restricted to over 18s. Non-TRA and England Athletics members pay an additional £2 levy.

Two route options are offered:

  • 15 miles trail run
  • 15 km social hike

The hike is a mass start and is timed but designated non-competitive. Runners depart during a start window and are asked to notify organisers when they set off and when they return. A race start sheet is emailed in the last week of July. The route is narrative and Strava based; a downloadable route narrative will be available the week before the event from the event organiser.

Awards for the fastest male and female in the longer run include free entry to the next edition. All starters receive a vest or T-shirt style (TBC); all finishers receive a medal, a free beverage and 10% off food when handing their race number to bar staff. Bags may be left in the beer garden at the participant's own risk. Full results will be published on the event website.

Parking is available in the public car park opposite the Black Bull and in the pub car-park; participants are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport. The venue is near Admirals Park and the Chelmsford Central parkrun hill. The 2026 charity of choice is to be confirmed; a £2 donation from each entry will be paid to that charity.
