The Black Bull 15

The Black Bull 15 is a trail event at the Black Bull venue near Chelmsford on 16 Aug 2026. The event offers a trail run and a social hike, and holds TRA race permit 6613 (TBC). Entry is restricted to over 18s; non TRA or England Athletic members pay an additional £2 levi. The 2026 charity of choice is the British Heart Foundation and a £2 donation from each entry fee will be paid to that charity. The organisers mark their 20th anniversary in 2026 and merchandise and medals will reflect that milestone.

Available options:

  • 15 miles trail run
  • 15 km social hike

Both routes use trail surfaces and include varied environments; wildlife such as deer, badgers and squirrels may be encountered. The route is narrative and Strava based and a route narrative will be available to download the week before the event from Multisport Management. Registration and the start and finish location are in the beer garden where participants collect race numbers, water and event T shirts. The longer run awards the fastest male and female a free entry to the next edition. Starters receive a vest or T shirt and all finishers receive a medal, a free beverage and 10 percent off their food bill when they hand in their race number to bar staff. Bags may be left in the beer garden at the owner’s risk. Parking is available in the public car park opposite the Black Bull and in the pub car park but spaces are limited; walking, cycling or using public transport is encouraged.
