The Black Bull 15 charity trail runs : 16 Aug 2026

The event offers two main options: a 15 mile trail run and a 15 km hike. It is restricted to over-18s and carries TRA race permit 6613. This will be the third edition. The route uses trail surfaces and varied environments and may include sightings of deer, badgers and squirrels. A Strava-based route narrative and downloadable GPX files are available before the event.

Entry, competition and logistics

The 15 mile option is a competitive run with awards of free entry for the fastest male and female in that distance. The 15 km option is timed but non-competitive and open to walkers and hikers. All starters receive a vest or T-shirt (style to be confirmed); all finishers receive a medal, a free beverage and 10% off food on presentation of their race number. Bags may be left in the beer garden at the participant’s own risk. Registration, start and finish are located at the beer garden at the Black Bull. Parking is available in the public car-park opposite the Black Bull and in the pub car-park; participants are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport. The route is noted as a training opportunity for those preparing for the Chelmsford Marathon events.
