Event overview
The Big Run Roanoke takes place on June 3, 2026, at Fallon Park in Roanoke, VA. The event marks the 10th year of The Big Run and is presented in partnership with Virginia Amateur Sports and Brooks Running. Distances offered include:
- 5K (timed)
- The Little Run - free kids fun run
The 5K is an out-and-back course on the Tinker Greenway that starts and ends at Fallon Park. The event is the official 5K for the Virginia Commonwealth Games and is timed nationally, allowing comparison with participants across the country.
Registration, logistics and awards
Registration fees vary by date: $30 (early), $35 (mid), and $45 (late). The timed 5K is limited to the first 350 participants. The first 300 registered participants in the timed 5K will receive a race medal; participants registered by May 24 are guaranteed a shirt.
Packet pick-up is available the day before and on race day at Fleet Feet and at locations near Fallon Park. Parking is available in the lots by Fallon Park Pool and at the Greenway entrance; the Greenway lot can fill quickly.
Awards include top three male and female finishers, top masters, and age-group recognition across categories from 14 and under through 75 and up. A "Middle of the Pack" award will be given to the runner who finishes in the middle of the field. The event benefits Smiles4Tab, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2023 that supports community causes in memory of a local runner killed by a distracted driver. Volunteers are sought for course marshal and race sweeper roles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
