The Big Deal at Great Seal
This event at Great Seal State Park near Chillicothe, OH offers multiple distances on a roughly 20 mile loop course. Distances include:
- 100 mile
- 100k
- 20 mile
- Adult 5k
- 5k youth
The loop is mostly single track, about 95 percent single track and 5 percent dual track, with approximately 3100 to 3200 feet of elevation gain per loop. The course includes named landmarks such as Sugarloaf, Bald Hill, Rock Garden, Lick Run, and Shawnee Ridge. Some sections will have two way traffic and the course will be marked.
Aid stations are located at Start/Finish and at Rocky Road and Lick Run with five stops per loop. Stations will be stocked with water, soda, electrolytes, hot food, and snacks. Crew access is allowed at Ireland Shelter and Lick Run only. Pacers are permitted for 100k and 100 mile runners after the first lap; pacers must register, wear a pacer bib, and access runners at designated aid stations. One pacer at a time.
Mandatory gear for 100k and 100 mile runners must be carried at all times and includes a GPX file on a device, two headlamps or one with spare batteries, a whistle, an emergency foil blanket, a minimum of one liter water capacity, and a collapsible cup. Runners may use up to three drop bags with labeling rules. Packet pickup for longer distances is mandatory Friday night at 50 West Brewing with a Friday briefing.
