The Big Cheese is a fell race taking place in Cheddar, Somerset. It is a 15-mile course with over 2000 feet of climbing. The event is classified as a Fell Race Association Category B race.

Course Details

The course is fully marked and marshalled, so navigation is not required. The race starts at the bottom of Warrens Hill, approximately one mile from the registration location at Fairlands Middle School. The first two miles of the course ascend onto the Mendips. The finish line is back at Fairlands Middle School. Trail shoes are advised for the terrain.

Facilities and Services

Entry includes tea and cake at the finish, with more homemade cakes available for purchase. Facilities include a baggage store, changing rooms, toilets (at both the race HQ and start), showers, and an indoor seating area. Water stations with snacks, including vegan options, are located at miles 4, 7, and 11.

Logistics

Registration opens at Fairlands Middle School. There is no parking at the school; participants are directed to park in the main village car park next to The Riverside pub, which is about a ten-minute walk away.
