The Bear Chase Race Endurance Festival

The Bear Chase Race Endurance Festival takes place at Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood, Colorado. The event spans two days and offers a variety of distances held on trail surfaces. Most of the course consists of soft surface single-track dirt trails, with some distances including short sections of asphalt. The terrain is characterized by panoramic views and non-technical paths.

Participants can choose from several distances:

  • 100K (Five 12.5-mile loops)
  • 50 Mile (Four 12.5-mile loops)
  • 50K (One 6.1-mile loop followed by two 12.5-mile loops)
  • Half Marathon (One 12.5-mile loop)
  • 10K (One 6.1-mile loop)
  • 5K (One 3.1-mile loop)

The event follows a cup-free policy, meaning runners must carry their own hydration systems such as bottles or bladders. Fully stocked aid stations are located at intervals along the course, providing water, endurance fuel, soda, and various snacks including fruit, pickles, and bean rollups. For the 100K and 50 Mile races, runners may use drop bags at the Start/Finish area and are allowed pacers after 3:00 pm.

All finishers receive a commemorative award, with 100K finishers specifically receiving a buckle. The festival includes post-race meals for participants, such as BBQ sandwiches on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday morning. A portion of every registration fee is donated to the City of Lakewood for open space preservation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
