The Basilisk - Tannersville, PA
The Running Kind stages The Basilisk at Trails End at Camelback Resort in Tannersville, PA, on terrain that uses a double-black diamond ski slope called The Basilisk. The course is a 2.5 mile loop that covers just under 900 ft of elevation gain and descent per loop.
Distances offered include:
- 2.5 Mile - Baby Basilisk, one loop
- 5 Mile - two loops
- 10 Mile Solo - four loops
- 10 Mile Relay - four loops, teams of two
Any distance can be entered in a ruck division with added weight. There are no official awards for the ruck division, but finishers who complete their distance with weight receive a special Basilisk patch.
Relay teams must ensure only one runner is on the course at a time and each team member completes two laps for a total of four. The active runner must carry the timing chip.
The event is cupless; participants must supply their own hydration. Coolers will be available to refill bottles between laps and an aid station will be located at basecamp near the start and finish. There will be no aid stations on the 2.5 mile loop.
Awards include top male, female, non binary placements for the 5 Mile, 10 Mile, and 10 Mile Relay, age group recognitions for 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+, and a race finisher pin for all finishers.
The event includes a carbon offset fee in registration to offset event emissions and personal travel. Runners For Public Lands is the event nonprofit partner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
