The Basilisk at Camelback Resort
The Running Kind organizes a trail race at Camelback Resort in Tannersville, PA, using a double black diamond ski slope called The Basilisk. The course is a 2.5 mile loop that gains and loses just under 900 feet of elevation per lap.
Participants may choose among multiple formats that repeat the loop:
- 2.5 Mile - Baby Basilisk, 1 loop
- 5 Mile - 2 loops
- 10 Mile Solo - 4 loops
- 10 Mile Relay - 4 loops, teams of two
The 10 mile distance covers nearly 3600 feet of total elevation change. The relay requires that only one teammate is on course at a time and the timing chip must accompany the runner on each lap. A ruck division allows added weight for any distance; finishers in that division receive a special Basilisk patch but there are no official ruck awards.
This is a cupless event. Participants must carry their own hydration; coolers will be available to refill bottles and an aid station will operate at basecamp near the start and finish. There is no aid on the loop. Parking and start/finish are at Trails End at Camelback Resort. Registration closes Saturday, Oct 3, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. The event will raise funds for Runners For Public Lands and includes a fee to offset carbon emissions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
