The Ale Trail 15 mile run

The event is a 15 miles trail run on 26 April 2026. The start is from the beer garden of the Ye Olde Smugglers Inne in Market Square, Alfriston, East Sussex BN26 5UE. Entry includes some merchandise and a bottle of water on collection.

The route is available as a GPX file and can be followed on Strava; a printable race narrative is also provided and includes emergency contact details. Participants collect race numbers and pins at the beer garden before the route. Organisers will try to secure a corner to store bags but advise not to leave valuables, children or pets.

There are two organised checkpoints at pubs along the route. At Checkpoint 1, The Hampden Arms, and at Checkpoint 2, The Ram Inn, a marshal records arrival and issues a beer token. Tokens can be exchanged at the bars for a drink and a snack; water refills may be available. A race cut off of 4 hours 30 minutes is in place; participants should limit time at checkpoints if they need to meet the cut off.

Travel notes list nearest train stations as Berwick and Seaford, local free parking and a pay and display carpark within a short walk. Suggested items to carry include layers, a lightweight running jacket, a printout of the route narrative and a mobile phone. Results will be published within 24 hours.
