Martello Half Marathon

Event Overview

The Martello Half Marathon is an undulating trail race located in Seaford, East Sussex. Organised by Rotary Martello Seaford in partnership with the Seaford Striders Running Club, the event combines views of the Seaford seafront with the landscape of the South Downs. The course features challenging terrain and significant climbs.

The race follows a specific safety protocol regarding pace. Participants are required to reach the first water station, located at approximately 4 miles, within one hour. This cut-off point is established to ensure the safety of runners and volunteers and to allow for a manageable return to the start area if necessary.

Logistics and Facilities

Registration, race number collection, and bag storage are available at the Scout Hut within the Salts Recreation Ground. The site includes toilet facilities, with additional external provisions arranged for the event.

For those traveling by car, free parking is available on the seafront, though it may fill up quickly. Alternative pay and display parking can be found at Richmond Road. The start location is situated a five-minute walk from the Seaford railway station and local bus stops.

Participant Information

The event is open to entrants aged 17 and over. Participants receive a bespoke medal and have access to water stations along the course. Free digital photos are provided after the race. The event operates as a fundraiser, with surplus proceeds split between the Rockinghorse Children's Charity, St Wilfrid's Hospice (Eastbourne), and Rotary Martello Seaford.
