The Alden Run

The Alden Run is a community running event held July 25, 2026, at 8751 Helena Rd in Alden, Michigan. The course begins at a quilt show and finishes at a rummage sale.

Event distances include:

  • 5K (3.1 miles)
  • 10K (6.2 miles)
  • 2 Mile Fun Walk (2 miles)

Both the 5K and 10K courses are USA Track & Field sanctioned. Those two courses use varied terrain, including pavement, dirt roads, and two tracks through the woods. The 2 Mile Fun Walk is on paved roads and is stroller, pet, and child friendly.

Registration opens April 15, 2026, and closes July 22, 2026. The listed registration fee for each event is $30.00.

Proceeds from the Alden Run are shared with Bellaire, Mancelona, and Central Lake Schools, supporting both athletic and art departments. Funds are also donated to the Downtown Alden Business Association and other local nonprofit organizations.

Trail runs nearby

A July 4 running event at Fife Lake Elementary School offering 10K, 5K run, and 5K walk. The 10K follows the lake shoreline while the 5K courses run through downtown during local July 4 activities.

A trail race around Boardman Lake in Traverse City offering 4 miles, 8 miles, and a two person relay on mostly paved trails with some boardwalks and bridges. All finishers receive a technical running cap and a bowl from Playa Bowls.

Trail runs at Peace Ranch near Traverse City include a 5K on packed sand roads and a 10K on varied forest trails. The event is dog friendly and supports New Veterans Retreat Services and the Mustang Rehab Program.

Experience a 5K trail loop through the scenic Leelanau State Park in Northport. All participants receive a custom finisher medal and a race shirt with professional chip timing included.
