The Christmas Charity Trail "The 12 Woods of Christmas" is a narrative trail event on 6 December 2025. Money raised will be donated to Farleigh Hospices. The event is held at Olio at The Generals Arms, Little Baddow, Chelmsford, CM3 4SX (grid ref TL 7794 0721). Entry places are limited to 120.

Route and format

Participants receive written narrative instructions. There is no mass start, no marked route and no marshals. Two approximate route distances are offered:

  • 3.5 miles
  • 6 miles

Participants are timed out and back in according to the event format. Footwear suitable for off-road running is strongly advised. Dogs are not allowed.

Rules, age limits and permits

The event is held under UK Athletics rules and has TRA Permit 7806. Age-based maximum distances for young trail runners are stated:

  • Under 12: 3 km
  • Under 14: 5 km
  • Under 16: 6 km
  • Under 17: 10 km
  • Under 18: 25 km
  • Under 20: 40 km

All finishers receive a £3 voucher valid at Olios at The Generals Arms. The venue requests absolutely no muddy trail shoes inside. Parking is via Little Baddow Cricket Club, possibly the Village Hall, and then the pub if space allows. Prices are listed as £7 (discounted) and £9 (standard).
