Tails on Trails 5K Run/Walk

Tails on Trails 5K Run/Walk is the second annual 5K at Cacapon State Park on Saturday, September 12, 2026, held to support the Humane Society of Morgan County. The event offers in-person running and walking options as well as a virtual participation choice.

The route uses the high school's official cross country course. The course begins with a gentle incline near the Lodge, then winds through forested terrain, passes the upper lake, showcases fall views, and loops back to the start. This year features a new course, an awards ceremony, and a free pup swim in the lake following the race.

Registration opens April 19, 2026 and closes September 11, 2026. Registration fees are $40 for the in-person run and walk entries and $30 for virtual participants. Volunteers are needed to support the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
