Tails on Trails 5K Run/Walk

The Tails on Trails 5K Run/Walk is the second annual 5K at Cacapon State Park in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, held on September 12, 2026. The event raises funds for the Humane Society of Morgan County and offers in-person running and walking options plus a virtual participant option, each covering 3.1 miles.

This year features a new course and an awards ceremony, followed by a free pup swim in the lake. The route uses the High School’s official cross-country course. It begins with a gentle incline near the Lodge, winds through forested terrain, passes the upper lake, showcases fall views, and returns to the start.

Registration is available in advance with in-person run and walk fees listed at $40 and a virtual entry fee of $30. Day-of onsite registration is $50. Registration opens April 19, 2026 and closes September 11, 2026.

Volunteers are needed for seated and standing positions, and groups and families are welcome to participate as volunteers. The event is open to runners, walkers, and four-legged participants and is presented as a community activity to support local animal welfare.
