Fire on the Mountain is a trail race held in Green Ridge State Forest near Little Orleans, Maryland. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Sunday, November 1, 2026. Registration opens February 2, 2026. The event offers two distances:
- 50K (about 31.95 miles)
- 25K (about 16.3 miles)
Course and aid
The 50K is run on an out-and-back course with seven aid stations, three of which are visited twice, plus an "oasis" at the midway point. Runners must complete the assigned 50K course within 10 hours to be considered an official finisher.
The 25K includes approximately 6.5 miles of trail that can be technical, with ups and downs, roots, rocks and narrow "billy goat" sections, plus about 9.6 miles of forest service road and improved dirt roads. The 25K uses three aid stations, one of which is visited twice. The 25K cutoff is 4 hours 30 minutes. Finishers who complete their distance within the official cutoff receive a finisher’s premium.

A training run is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, meeting at the race finish area. The organizer seeks volunteers to staff aid stations.
