Fire on the Mountain 50K Trail Race

The event takes place on November 1, 2026, in Little Orleans, Maryland, in Green Ridge State Forest. It offers trail running over an out-and-back course on mixed terrain, with aid stations and time cutoffs for official finishers.

Distances:

  • 50K about 31.95 miles
  • 25K about 16.3 miles

The 50K uses an out-and-back layout with seven aid stations (three are visited twice) and an "oasis" at the midway point. Runners must complete the assigned 50K course within 10 hours to be an official finisher. The 25K has three aid stations (one visited twice) and a cutoff of 4 hours 45 minutes. The 25K course includes roughly 6.5 miles of trail that can be technical with roots, rocks and narrow "billy goat" sections, plus about 9.6 miles of forest service road and improved dirt roads.

Registration opens February 2 and closes on November 1. No refunds or transfers are allowed, with possible exceptions for military service or pregnancy. All finishers who complete their event within the official cutoff receive a finisher's premium. Scheduled training runs are held in September, and volunteers are needed to staff aid stations.

Runners who complete five of seven designated 2Lowe Run Co events earn Distinguished Participant status and a special award. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
