Fire On The Mountain 50K Trail Race

Fire on the Mountain - Green Ridge State Forest, Maryland

Fire on the Mountain takes place on Sunday, November 1, 2026, in Green Ridge State Forest near Little Orleans, MD. The event offers two distances on primarily red and green trails through the state forest. The course is an out-and-back that uses trail and forest service roads, with a midpoint "oasis" at Aid Station 4 (mile 16.4).

• 50K : about 32.8 miles; seven aid stations; out-and-back.
• 25K : about 16.3 miles; three aid stations.

The 25K course includes about 6.5 miles of sometimes technical singletrack with roots, rocks, and narrow "billy goat" sections, plus roughly 9.6 miles of forest service road and improved dirt road. Unofficial GPS estimates list approximately 5,387 feet of elevation gain and loss over the 50K distance. Runners who finish within the official cutoffs receive a finisher's premium and an event T-shirt. The 50K official cutoff is 10 hours; the 25K cutoff is approximately 4.5 hours.

Packet pickup is available the day before at Locust Post Brewery (31706 Old Adams Road, Little Orleans, MD) and at the start area on race morning. Drop bags can be left on race morning and will be available at Aid Station 4; organizers advise not to include car keys as bags may not reach the finish and mailing found items may incur costs.
