Rocky Gap 25K, 50K, Relay Trail Run

Rocky Gap Trail Run is held at Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, MD on Sunday October 11, 2026. The event uses three distinct loops called Loop A, Loop B, and Loop C. The 25K race completes each loop once in order (A, B, C) for about 1,300 feet of total elevation change. The 50K completes the sequence twice for about 2,600 feet of total elevation change. Both the 25K and 50K are offered for solo runners and for relay teams of two or three.

Loop A is approximately 6.5 miles with 500+ feet of climb, includes moderate singletrack and a steep section called Evitt’s Revenge, and uses Rocky Trail and Setters Path. Loop B is about 4.4 miles with roughly 500 feet of elevation change, traverses ridge and canyon overlook trails and includes Old Hancock Road. Loop C is roughly 5.2 miles with about 250 feet of elevation change and follows the full Lakeside Loop with frequent water views.

Base camp is at the pavilion near the lake and serves as the start, finish, and relay transfer point. Base camp provides hot and cold food, water, soda, and Gatorade; on-course aid stations offer water and Gatorade and a few small snacks. Teams exchange a single bib on a provided bib belt and each team member must run at least one loop in sequence. Race rules include removal of headphones at road crossings and near aid stations, outside assistance only at aid stations, no pets or pacers, and a 10 hour maximum finish for 50K runners.
