Rocky Gap 25K, 50K, Relay Trail Run

Rocky Gap Trail Run takes place at Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, Maryland. The event is offered as a 25K, a 50K, and relay teams of two or three. The 25K covers three distinct loops once each; the 50K covers the same three loops twice for roughly double the distance and elevation.

The course is composed of three loops: Loop A (6.5 miles, about 500+ feet of climbing) with rocky singletrack and a steep climb called Evitt’s Revenge; Loop B (4.4 miles, about 500 feet of climbing) featuring ridge and canyon overlook trails; and Loop C (5.2 miles, about 250 feet of climbing) following the Lakeside Loop Trail with water views. Loop A is described as the most demanding, Loop B moderate, and Loop C the gentlest.

Base camp is located near the Mountain View Pavilion by the lake and serves as the start/finish and relay exchange area. Base camp provides food, water, soda and Gatorade; on-course aid stations supply water, Gatorade and small snacks with locations noted approximately by mile on each loop. Teams exchange a single bib belt at the end of each loop and each team member must run at least one loop.
