Trail Running in Ku-ring-gai National Park

The Sydney Trail Series - St Ives is a trail running event held within the bushy setting of the St Ives Wildflower Gardens. The event offers three separate race dates during the spring season. Participants can choose between several course lengths that utilize the diverse trail systems in the area:

  • 7 km
  • 10.5 km
  • 24 km
  • 30 km (available in the November event only)

The courses feature a variety of terrain types including scenic single trails along Cowan Creek and fire trails. The longer distances involve technical and steep sections through Ku-ring-gai National Park. Cut-off times are enforced for the 24 km and 30 km distances. Specifically, the 24 km course has a 3.5-hour cut-off at the 18.7 km mark, while the 30 km course has a 4.5-hour cut-off at the 24.7 km mark.

The start and finish area is located at Picnic Area 3 of the St Ives Showgrounds precinct, accessible via Mona Vale Road. On-site parking is available for visitors. A recovery station at the finish line provides water, fruit, and snacks, alongside a barbecue. Presentations for participants take place during the morning of each event.
