Sycamore 8 is scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2026, in Johnston, Iowa. The race is hosted by the Capital Striders Running Club and is described as an 8-ish mile trail run following the Sycamore Trail along the Des Moines River. Entries are capped at 300 participants. The listed entry fee is $55 and registration opens December 4, 2026 at 12:01am CST.

Course and logistics

The course follows single-track dirt trail with some road and groomed single-track sections and runs along the Des Moines River. The route will be marked with flags on the ground and fluorescent ribbons on trees. A GPX file and a Strava route are provided by the organizer.

Parking is limited at the start/finish area at 4301 NW 66th Ave (Johnston Soccer Fields); additional parking is available at the Neal Smith Trailhead across the bridge to the east, with a paved trail from that lot to the starting area. Porta-potties will be available at the start/finish area. There will be one water stop at the midpoint offering water and Gatorade; participants requiring more hydration are advised to bring their own bottle.

Photographers will be on course and photos will be posted to Facebook and Google Photos after the race. A post-race gathering is planned at Goodsons on Beaver Ave. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
