Booneville Backroads Ultra
The Booneville Backroads Ultra is a rural road and ultra event held in Booneville, Iowa, that passes through parts of the Bridges of Madison County and surrounding countryside. The course features thousands of feet of elevation gain, many hills, and stretches of level B roads that can become difficult in wet conditions. The event is organized as a grassroots race that passes through small communities and often faces variable weather.
Distances offered:
- 100 Miler
- 100K
- 50K
- 10K
Organizers announced three changes for 2026. The 50K, 100K, and 100 mile courses will be marked in addition to required cue sheets. Female runners who belong to a Trail Sisters group may receive a discount after requesting a discount code. Crew support will be allowed on course with limits: one crew vehicle per participant or one crew vehicle per group, and crew support will be supplemental to aid stations; additional restrictions will be published later.
The event retains its backroads character and course variability while adding formal wayfinding and adjusted support options for ultra-distance participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
