Swinner Swagger
Swinner Swagger is an approximately 15.5 to 16 km (about 10 miles) loop race based at Usha Gap Campsite near Muker. The route follows the Hartlakes valley to Keld, crosses a footbridge, climbs Swinner Gill to a water station, then descends Gunnerside Gill and follows the River Swale back to finish near Rampsholme footbridge.
The course runs on grassy paths, shooting tracks, single-track sections and short stretches of tarmac. Trail shoes are recommended. The route is waymarked with tape, flags and coloured arrows, and critical turns and road crossings are manned by marshals; maps and a GPX file are provided.
Aid stations are fully stocked with water, Active Root, sweet and savoury food, and a small supply of electrolyte drinks; vegan and gluten free options are available. The organiser does not provide disposable cups at aid stations, so runners should bring a soft flask or collapsible cup. Portable toilets are provided at the car park and post-race refreshments include a hot drink, vegetable soup and a roll.
There is a mandatory kit list and organisers may perform spot checks; required items include waterproof jacket and trousers, hat or buff, gloves, emergency blanket or bivvy, a cup or soft flask, at least 500 ml of water and a charged phone. Entrants must be 16 or older. Field size is limited to 100 runners. Entry fees shown are £22 affiliated and £24 unaffiliated; entries open 22 October 2025 and close 28 June 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
