Swinner Swagger is a loop trail race on 4 July 2026 based at Usha Gap Campsite, Muker. The course is approximately 15.5 km (9.6 miles) and follows the valley known as Hartlakes to Keld, crosses a footbridge, climbs Swinner Gill, then descends toward Gunnerside and follows the River Swale back to finish near Rampsholme footbridge. The route includes grassy paths, shooting tracks and some short tarmac sections. Trail shoes are recommended. GPX and a PDF map of the route are available for download.

Logistics and rules

Race HQ and parking are adjacent to the campsite; registration is in the parking field and kit spot checks may be carried out. Portable toilets are provided in the carpark only. Aid stations are stocked with water, sports drink (Active Root), sweet and savoury food, electrolyte drinks and some vegan and gluten-free options; no plastic cups will be provided so runners must carry a cup or soft flask. Post-race refreshments include a hot drink, vegetable soup and a roll. Mandatory kit includes taped-seam waterproof jacket and trousers, hat or buff, gloves, emergency blanket or bivvy, a cup or soft flask, minimum 500 ml water and a fully charged mobile phone; failure to carry mandatory kit may lead to disqualification. Entry is limited to runners aged 16 and over, with an overall entrant limit of 100. Entry fees listed are £22 (affiliated) and £24 (unaffiliated); prices include a £1 donation to the National Park.
