Swinner Swagger - event overview
Swinner Swagger is a fell/trail race organised by DalesRunner, held in Muker with race headquarters at Usha Gap Campsite. The event is scheduled for 4 July 2026. The advertised course distance is 15.5 km (9.6 miles, roughly). Entry is restricted to participants aged 16 or older. The field is limited to 100 runners. Entry fees are stated as £22 for affiliated runners and £24 for unaffiliated runners; the price includes a £1 donation to the national park.
Course, facilities and requirements
The route starts from meadows north of Muker, follows the Hartlakes valley to Kisdon Force near Keld, crosses the river by footbridge, passes Crackpot Hall, climbs Swinner Gill to a water station, descends Gunnerside Gill to Ivelet, then follows the Pennine Way along the River Swale through meadows to finish near Rampsholme footbridge. Surfaces include grassy paths, shooting tracks, single-track sections and some tarmac; trail shoes are recommended. The course is waymarked with orange tape, pin flags and coloured arrows, and critical turns are manned by marshals. Aid stations provide water, nutrition options (including vegan and gluten-free choices are noted) and electrolyte drink; the event does not supply plastic cups. Portable toilets are available at the car park only. A mandatory kit list is enforced, which includes waterproof jacket and trousers, hat or buff, gloves, emergency blanket or bivvy, a cup or soft flask, minimum 500 ml water and a fully charged mobile phone.
