Sunapee Scramble

The Sunapee Scramble is a mountain race held at Mount Sunapee Resort. It will host the 2026 USATF Classic Mountain Running Championships. The event also serves as the 2026 Collegiate Mountain Running National Championships.

The course is a two-lap up/down race covering approximately 9.3 miles. The total elevation gain is about 3,300 feet. The first lap involves a climb up ski slopes, a service road, and a trail to the summit, gaining about 1,500 feet. The descent on this lap is 1.75 miles. The second lap starts at the base and climbs about 3.5 miles, gaining around 1,800 feet via a service road and the Newbury Trail, before the same 1.75-mile descent back to the finish.

The event includes a separate race: the New England High School Trail Championships. There is an award and after-party at the Sunapee Base Lodge. Bib pickup starts on Saturday and again on Sunday morning. Early registration costs $65. The use of poles or headphones is not permitted during the race.
