Event

The Sunapee Scramble is a mountain running race in Sunapee, New Hampshire, held on June 7, 2026. The event serves as the 2026 USATF National Classic Mountain Championship and is the sole selection race for the 2026 US Classic Up/Down Mountain Running Team. Registration closes on Fri, Jun 5 at 11:59 PM ET. There is no day-of registration.

Course and format

The race is approximately 9.2 miles with about 3,250 feet of vertical gain. The course begins at the base lodge, follows a service road to the summit, then descends back to the base lodge. Runners complete a second lap that climbs via the service road and then continues on the Newbury Trail, described as super technical, to the summit before descending again to the base.

Prize purse and hosting

The event features a $30,000 prize purse presented by Brooks Running. The prize purse is hosted on Run.fund, which accepts contributions that increase the amount available for payout.

Weekend logistics

Snow or no snow, join the NHTI Lynx on January 10 in Concord for a spirited snowshoe race on scenic college cross country trails with 2 mile, 4 mile and kids events. Proceeds support NHTI Athletics and awards go to top finishers.

Take on a technical 50K in Spaulding Woods New Hampshire, six rugged laps of rocky singletrack, roots, footbridges and about 4,400 feet of climbing. Aid stations and drop bags support runners chasing a 10 hour cutoff.
