Spaulding Woods 50K
The Spaulding Woods 50K is a looped trail ultramarathon held on the Spaulding Academy & Family Services campus at 72 Spaulding Rd, Northfield, NH. The course is made up of five 10K loops on a technical trail system with rocks, roots, footbridges, and a mix of short climbs and descents. The trail is primarily singletrack with a small portion of doubletrack.
The full distance is approximately 32 miles with roughly 4,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain. Runners have a ten hour limit to complete the race and there is a strict eight hour cutoff to begin the fifth and final loop; participants not on the fifth loop by that cutoff will not be permitted to continue.
The looped format keeps runners close to the start and finish area and provides access to a well stocked aid station, a midpoint water station, portable toilets, and personal drop bags at the completion of each lap. Pacers are not allowed. This is a cupless event, so runners must bring refillable water containers. For safety, animals including dogs, drones, strollers, and bikes are not permitted and the use of headphones is discouraged.
The event supports Spaulding Academy & Family Services, an organization providing community based services, academics, clinical care, outdoor challenges, and health and wellness programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
