Ragged 75 Stage Race and 50K

Overview

The Ragged 75 Stage Race and 50k is a multi-day trail event around Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire that follows much of the SRKG Greenway (Sunapee Ragged Kearsarge Greenway). The event marks the 10th anniversary of the Ragged 75 format. The stage race covers about 75 miles with roughly 15,500 ft of elevation gain. A single-day 50k option follows a similar final stage route of about 33 miles with approximately 6,300 ft of vertical.

The 75-mile event is run as three point-to-point stages on hiking trails, double track, fire roads, dirt/gravel roads and some pavement. Published stage details list roughly 24 miles and 4,900 ft for Stage 1, 23 miles and 4,375 ft for Stage 2, and 33 miles and 6,300 ft for Stage 3. Overnight camping is provided at Wadleigh State Park and Sunapee Middle High School; runners may bring tents or sleep on the gym floor. The finish and post-race area are at Ragged Mountain Resort.

Support, rules and gear

The event is limited support: midstage aid is provided and Stage 3 has four full aid stations plus one water-only stop with specified mile markers. Competitors must carry mandatory gear, including a cell phone, hydration pack with at least 70 oz capacity, a fully waterproof jacket, course maps, a compass, and a basic medical/blister kit. Each stage has a 12-hour time limit. Crews and pacers are not allowed. Stage racers may check one 90-liter duffel for transport between overnight locations.
