Summer Solstice Trail Run

The Summer Solstice Trail Run takes place on June 20, 2026, as an early morning trail event at Gay City State Park. The event offers multiple race distances on park trails and awards participants with event apparel items.

Distances include:

  • 8 mile race; part of Blue-Blazed Trail Running Series and USATF-CT MUT series
  • 5 mile race
  • 3 mile race

The 8 mile race is included in regional trail series competition and is organized to allow teams of three to compete for prize money. Race participants receive a pair of custom designed technical socks and may add an optional custom designed hat.

The event names HMF’s youth running program as its charity beneficiary. The Hartford Marathon Foundation operates the event; HMF is a non-profit organization that produces road and trail races in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. For 2026 the HMF Milestone membership program offers member perks such as personalized bibs at select events, member-only wait lists, and other benefits; an enhanced Milestone+ option adds specialty apparel, additional rewards, and a Mail My Packet service at premier events.
