The Summer Solstice Challenge in Colchester is a unique running event held at the scenic Abberton Reservoir Visitors Centre. Taking place on the longest day of the year, participants run laps of just over 5k on off-road paths around the reservoir, enjoying beautiful countryside views and abundant wildlife. The challenge lasts six hours, from 3pm to 9pm, allowing runners to choose their own distance, from one hour up to marathon or ultra distances. Each lap passes the well-stocked feed station at the Visitors Centre, which remains open for supporters to cheer on runners. Entry includes a medal, with optional event apparel available.
