The Summer Solstice Challenge in Colchester is a unique running event held at the scenic Abberton Reservoir Visitors Centre. Taking place on the longest day of the year, participants run laps of just over 5 kilometers on off-road paths around the reservoir. The event lasts six hours, from 3 pm to 9 pm, allowing runners to choose their own distance, from one hour up to ultra marathon lengths. Each lap starts and finishes at the Visitors Centre, where a free, well-stocked feed station supports runners throughout the evening.
