Little River Trail Run

Event overview

The Little River Trail Run is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026, in Little River, Kansas. The race marks the 44th annual running of the event, which began in 1982. All event registration, information and the start/finish area are on Main Street at 365 Main Street, Little River, KS 67457. Early bird registration is noted for May 1, 2026, and registrations received before May 8, 2026 receive a T-shirt. Awards include the "COW CHIP" for the top 10K male and female winners, medals for the top three finishers in each age category, and a $50 bonus for any new course record in the 5K, 10K or Pony Express races.

The 10K is a loop west of town that includes two creek crossings and rolling native hills with cowboys and cattle. The 5K is an out-and-back that includes the named "Suicide Hill." The Pony Express relay covers the 10K course with three runners splitting the course; batons are provided. Ruck rules state a mandatory weigh-in at the finish line, a minimum ruck weight of 20 lbs carried on the back, and no sling bags or duffel bags.
