Horsethief Canyon Trail Run takes place along the Horsethief Canyon Trail in Kanopolis State Park near Marquette, Kansas. The 10K course combines roughly 1/2 mile of road with about six miles of rugged singletrack, passing through canyon terrain with hills, rocky sections, sand, and up to five shallow water crossings. The trail is a shared-use route used by equestrians, hikers, and mountain bikers.

Race-day amenities include restroom facilities at the trailhead, a self-serve water stop on course, and snacks and drinks at the finish. Day-use permits may be required at the park entrance.
