Carry Your Cross : event overview

Carry Your Cross is an endurance event held at Kanopolis Lake State Park that features a 10K where participants carry a 50+ lb cross over rugged terrain. The event also includes separate trail races and post-race activities.

The schedule uses heats: the Carry Your Cross race begins first, followed by the 5K and 10K trail runs. The event runs rain or shine; participants are advised to plan for wind typical of the area. Entry is limited to 75 race slots.

Post-race amenities include music, games, awards, and a free-will-donation barbecue and fellowship. Prizes and Dominion-branded swag are awarded to first, second, and third place finishers.

Registration information for 2026 is provided as follows: registration opens December 1, 2025. An early bird registration period runs December 1–31, followed by a standard registration window from January 1 to March 13. The 2026 event date is March 28. Youth and families can take part; a 5K and 10K option is available for kids aged 8 and older or family members who wish to run alongside a cross carrier.
