Carry Your Cross and Trail Races

This endurance event takes place at Kanopolis Lake State Park in Kansas. The competition features rugged terrain and focuses on personal physical and mental strength. The 2026 edition is scheduled for March 28th. Participants can register for three different race options involving various distances and requirements:

  • Carry Your Cross (10 km): An endurance race where participants carry a wooden cross weighing over 50 lbs.
  • 10 km Trail Race: A standard trail run over rugged terrain without the requirement to carry a cross.
  • 5 km Trail Race: A shorter trail distance suitable for family members or participants aged 8 and older.

The event is held outdoors and proceeds regardless of weather conditions, including rain or wind. Participation is open to both men and women. The Carry Your Cross distance starts first, followed by the standard trail run distances. Total participation for the main event is limited to 75 race slots.

The venue offers specific areas for spectators to view the race. Following the completion of the runs, the event includes music, games, and an awards ceremony for first, second, and third place finishers. A post-race meal and fellowship gathering are provided on a free will donation basis for attendees. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
