Sunflower Trail Run

The Sunflower Trail Run is the eighth annual event on August 29, 2026 at Kansas Maze, 13209 East 82nd Avenue, Buhler, KS 67522. The event uses dirt pathways cut through more than 20 acres of sunflowers so participants follow trails inside the sunflower field.

The competitive 5K is restricted to runners only and does not allow strollers. The non competitive 5K and the 1 mile are open to run and walk participants and allow strollers. Virtual 5K entries can complete the distance off site and receive mailed race items.

Registered participants receive a Sunflower Trail Run finisher t-shirt and a finisher medal if registered before published cutoffs. A one day admission pass to the Kansas Maze sunflower festival is included for the participant and one guest. T shirt sizes are not guaranteed after the organizer cut off date.

Awards in the competitive 5K are given to the top finisher in each male and female age category: 10 and under, 11 to 17, 18 to 35, 36 to 50, 51 to 65, and 66 plus. Teams must include at least four members. A referral program issues a monetary refund when three other registrants use a personal referral code.

Spectators are not allowed on the course or in the sunflower field; viewing is available from a lookout bridge and other platforms. A water station will be available. The course may be uneven and can become muddy; pollinating bees may be present. Race day timing and results are provided by Morgan Sports. Kansas Maze may cancel or change the date due to lack of blooms, inclement weather, or unsafe conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
