The course uses private land with steep climbs, open prairies, shaded single-track through the bluffs of the Driftless Region, and a crossing of Cedar Creek. The 10k-plus loop contains two large bluff climbs and a scenic valley; multiple loops of that course are used to create the longer distances. Dogs are not allowed on the property.
Aid stations: the 5k uses one aid station passed twice. The 10k loop has three aid stations with specific mile markers; longer distances pass an additional farm aid station. Aid stations provide snacks, water, Gu, and orange-flavored Tailwind. This is a cupless event; runners should bring a reusable cup, bottle, or hydration gear. Collapsible silicone cups are available for purchase at check-in.
Other details: pre-registration is required, there are no course cutoffs, race shirts are available for purchase during registration with an ordering cutoff of June 15, 2026, and a portion of registration fees and donations supports youth mental health programs at Hiawatha Valley Mental Health Center.
