Steve's Run

Steve's Run takes place on July 17, 2026, in Downtown Dowagiac, Michigan. The event includes multiple running options and begins and ends in the downtown area.

The courses pass through paved roads in Dowagiac, a golf course, a cemetery, and wooded trails on the Southwestern Michigan College campus. The event is in its 52nd year and was renamed in the early 1990s to honor those affected by cancer.

• 10K Run
• 1 mile Family Fun Run

Registration is offered in early, regular, and late periods. Fees vary by period: early registration is $25 for the 5K and $30 for the 10K; regular registration increases to $30 for the 5K and $35 for the 10K; late registration is $40 for the 5K and $40 for the 10K. The Family Fun Run fee is $1 throughout.

Packet pickup is available on the day before the event at the college and on race day at the Dowagiac Train Depot. T-shirts are available through registration while supplies last. Participants may purchase "Fire Up" course signs that will be placed along the 5K course; proceeds from those signs go to cancer research.

Proceeds from the event are split evenly between cancer research and student scholarships. Medals are awarded to overall men and women winners in the 5K and 10K and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
