Event overview

Starburster is a sunset twilight trail event in Hurn Forest, starting and finishing at Hospital Services Cricket Club in St Leonards, Ringwood (BH24 2FB). The next scheduled race is on 31/01/2026. The event takes place at sunset and participants are required to use a head or chest torch. Trail shoes are recommended but not essential because the main track is hardstanding and well maintained. Twenty percent of entry fees are donated to Forestry England for forest and trail maintenance.

Course, distances and facilities

  • 5 mile - one lap of a 2.5 mile out-and-back course.
  • 10 mile - two laps of the 2.5 mile out-and-back course.

An aid and drinks station is located at the start/finish with a selection of savoury and sweet items. There is an area to leave personal items. Organisers do not provide plastic cups. Toilets are available at the cricket club. Number pick-up is at race registration before the event and final instructions are sent by email.

Parking near the start is limited; a public car park is available on Boundary Lane about 0.4 miles away. Morebus serves the area with a stop at St. Leonard's Hospital.
