Starburster is a sunset / twilight running event organised by Long Player Running on 31 January 2026 at Hurn Forest, starting from Hospital Services Cricket Club in St Leonards, Ringwood (BH24 2FB). The event is licensed by the TRA and will be run under UKA rules. Twenty percent of entry fees are donated to Forestry England to support forest and trail maintenance.

The course is an out-and-back route on the forest main trail. Laps are 2.5 miles each: the 5 mile event is one lap and the 10 mile event is two laps. The track is described as hardstanding and well maintained; trail shoes are recommended but not essential. As a twilight event, head or chest torches are essential and additional lights are encouraged.

Facilities and logistics

Toilets are available at the cricket club. An aid and drinks station will operate at the start/finish offering a selection of savoury and sweet items. There is an area to leave personal items. Organisers do not provide plastic cups. Number pick-up is at race registration before the event and final instructions will be sent by email. Minimum ages are 16 for the 5 mile event and 17 for the 10 mile event.

Access and parking

Parking near the start/finish is limited. A public car park is available on Boundary Lane, approximately 0.4 miles from the start.
