Starburster

Starburster is a sunset / twilight trail event organised by Long Player Running at Hurn Forest, starting and finishing at Hospital Services Cricket Club in St Leonards, Ringwood BH24 2FB. The route follows the main forest trail as an out-and-back course. Head or chest torches are essential and additional lights are encouraged. Trail shoes are recommended but not required. Organisers allocate 20% of entry costs to Forestry England. Entry fees are listed from £25 to £29.

Distances and course

  • 5 miles - one lap of the 2.5 mile out-and-back course (minimum age 16)
  • 10 miles - two laps of the 2.5 mile out-and-back course (minimum age 17)

Facilities and logistics

Toilets are available at the cricket club. There will be an aid and drinks station at the start/finish offering savoury and sweet items, and an area to leave personal items. No plastic cups are provided. Number pick-up takes place at race registration before the event. Parking near the start is limited; a public car park is on Boundary Lane about 0.4 miles away. The nearest bus stop is St. Leonard's Hospital. Nearest train stations are Bournemouth and Branksome, each 8.1 miles from the start.
