Stanza Stones Winter Edition
The event is a 24 hour, 51 miles linear route with over 6600 ft of ascent, starting at Marsden in West Yorkshire and finishing in Ilkley. The route crosses moorland of the South Pennines, passes through the historical village of Haworth and climbs over Ilkley Moor near the finish. Participants visit six Stanza Stones along the course; each stone bears a poem by Simon Armitage and all are linked to the theme of water. The six stones are named Snow, Rain, Mist, Dew, Puddle and Beck.
Support and facilities include live tracking supplied by Open Tracking, six checkpoints of which three are indoors and all provide food and drink, a professional medical and rescue support team, a finishers meal and a finishers memento. The finish venue offers changing rooms with hot showers and there is an option to register at either end of the route. Optional extras include booking a bed in mixed sex bunk rooms at the finish for a fee, an optional coach from Ilkley to the start, and an optional event t shirt. Transport after finishing is not included. The minimum age to enter is 20 years. Entry fees listed are UKA members £95 and non members £97 with an instalment option available.
