Stanza Stones Winter Edition

The event is a 24 hour, linear route of about 51 miles with over 6600 ft of ascent, starting in Marsden, West Yorkshire and finishing in Ilkley. The route visits six Stanza Stones with poems inscribed in them; each stone is linked to the theme of water and has its own name: Snow, Rain, Mist, Dew, Puddle and Beck.

The course crosses moorland of the South Pennines, passes the historical village of Haworth, and includes a final ascent over Ilkley Moor. There are six checkpoints along the route, three of which are indoors, and all checkpoints provide food and drink.

Event services include live tracking supplied by Open Tracking, a professional medical and rescue support team, a finishers meal and a finishers memento. Finish facilities provide changing rooms and hot showers. Participants may register at either end of the route.

Entry requires a minimum age of 20 years. Entry fees are listed as UKA Member £95.00 and Non Member £97.00. An instalment option is offered with a £37 deposit followed by two payments of £30. Optional paid extras include a mixed sex bunk room at the finish, an optional coach from Ilkley to the start, an optional event t shirt, and post finish transport. Camping is not available in November. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
