St Austell Skyline 10
The St Austell Skyline 10 is a multi-terrain running event organized by the St Austell Running Club. The course covers 10 miles and explores the clay mining heritage of the region, utilizing a combination of clay trails, permissive paths, and footpaths. This race is part of the Cornwall Multi-Terrain Race Series (MTRS).
The route begins alongside Bodmin Road and ascends toward the clay workings. A notable feature of the course is the "Sky Spur," which provides panoramic views of the Sky Tip and St Austell Bay, extending from Gribben to Black Head. Runners complete a circuit of Baal Pit, a former clay mining site previously used as a filming location for television. The path also passes the ancient quarry of Carn Grey and a woodland section near the newly constructed Eco-village before rejoining the main trail back to the finish.
Participants must be at least 18 years old to enter. The course is marshaled and marked throughout, with two drinks stations provided at key intervals. Due to safety regulations, the use of personal audio devices or MP3 players is prohibited. The event also prohibits dogs, wheelchairs, wheeled carriages, and cycles.
Race Headquarters is located at Cornwall College St Austell, where participants can access bag drop facilities and collect race numbers. Free on-site parking is available for attendees. All finishers receive a medal and a memento. A portion of the event proceeds is donated to the Southwest Coast Path charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
