The Smugglers Way : Saturday 25 April 2026

The Smugglers Way is a supported, self-navigation trail run across Cornwall. The route starts in the North Coast fishing village of Boscastle and finishes in the seaside town of Looe on the south coast. The course passes through Bodmin Moor, Brown Willy, multiple other tors, wooded fields and valleys. This event forms Stage 2 of the Saints & Smugglers 100 Mile Challenge.

Registration is at the Riverside Hotel in Boscastle and bag drop is available in the car park. The finish setting is at the Hannafore Point Hotel, which offers shelter, toilets, bar service and an option to use spa facilities by prebooking. All finishers receive an event medal; awards will be given to the top three male and top three female finishers.

There are four checkpoints on the route where staff provide fluids and snacks. The event has an overall cut-off time of 13.5 hours. All runners are issued a GPS tracker and must check in at every checkpoint and at the finish; checkpoint staff must see each runner's bib number as they pass.

A mandatory kit list applies and a kit check takes place at registration. Required items include a compass (phone app acceptable), head torch, whistle, bivvy or survival bag (not a foil blanket), hi-vis or reflective strips, lightweight waterproof top, long trousers or leggings, hat, chocolate or nutrition, basic first aid, at least 1 litre of fluid, a spare warm long-sleeved top in a waterproof bag, a charged mobile phone with battery pack, paper with a next-of-kin mobile number in a waterproof bag, £20 cash and a collapsible or reusable cup.
