Race The Tide - Flete Estate, Mothecombe (Saturday 16 May 2026)

Race The Tide is a trail running event at the privately owned Flete Estate, Mothecombe, South Devon. The event is organised by OuterEdge Events and holds a Trail Running Association race permit. All three races are digitally timed. Start and finish for all races are at Mothecombe (PL8 1LB). Finishers of each race receive a bespoke event medal. Event t-shirts and other merchandise are available to purchase before race day.

Courses and practical information

  • Long Marathon - almost 29 miles (minimum age 20 years)
  • Long Half-Marathon - 15 miles (minimum age 18 years)
  • Watery Woodland Trail - 8.5 miles (minimum age 17 years)

Routes use private footpaths, the Erme estuary shoreline, bridle paths, fields, woodland and the South West Coast Path. The Marathon includes a beach section at Bigbury-on-Sea and a run across the causeway to Burgh Island. The Half-Marathon has approximately 613 metres of total ascent. Aid stations: Marathon 4, Half-Marathon 3, Woodland Trail 2. The event is cupless - no plastic cups are provided. Free parking is listed (usually charged at £6.00 per day). First aid is available on course and at headquarters. Dogs are not permitted during the races.

  • Half-Marathon and Marathon: capacity to carry 1 litre of water, trail shoes, waterproof jacket, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food, foil blanket.
