Race The Tide

Race The Tide is a day of trail races held on the privately owned Flete Estate at Mothecombe in South Devon on Saturday 16 May 2026. The event uses private footpaths, bridle paths, fields, woodland and sections of the South West Coast Path, including a beach section at Bigbury-on-Sea and a causeway crossing to Burgh Island. All courses are waymarked, marshalled and digitally timed.

Distances offered:

  • Long Marathon - almost 29 miles, includes Bigbury-on-Sea beach and Burgh Island causeway.
  • Long Half-Marathon - about 15 miles, woodland and estuary trails then coastal path.
  • Watery Woodland Trail - 8.5 miles on private estate with two aid stations.

Minimum ages for entry are set per race and are higher for some categories. Aid stations are provided on all courses; the longer races have multiple aid stations. Finishers of each race receive a bespoke event medal and event t-shirts are available to purchase before race day.

Compulsory kit is required. Half-marathon and marathon runners must carry one litre capacity for fluids, trail shoes, waterproof jacket, whistle, mobile phone and emergency food and blanket. Woodland Trail runners must carry at least 250 ml of water, trail shoes, a mobile phone and a foil blanket. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.

A night trail event near South Brent with two courses, 9 miles across Dartmoor and 5 miles on local roads and paths. The route is marked but a route device is recommended, with catering, live music and a shared sauna after the run.

A fully supported winter challenge across Dartmoor offering 50 km and 30 km routes from south to north. The route crosses remote open moor with unmarked sections and on-course guides, maps and GPX support are provided.

Pair up for a winter challenge across Dartmoor's Eastern Tors, starting from the Rugglestone Inn in Widecombe. This demanding 11 miles route with 830 meters of climb needs teams, required kit and pre entry for a small, limited field.

This Dartmoor trail event features three challenging distances, all climbing the Hameldown Ridge twice. It includes a new ultra, a half marathon, and an 8-mile race. Courses offer rugged terrain and expansive moorland views.
