Event overview

Race The Tide takes place on Saturday 16 May 2026 at the privately owned Flete Estate in Mothecombe, South Devon. The event offers three trail races that use private footpaths, the South West Coast Path, bridle paths, fields, woodland and estuarine trails. Courses include a beach section at Bigbury-on-Sea and a crossing of the causeway to Burgh Island. All races are digitally timed and finishers receive a bespoke event medal. Event t-shirts and other merchandise are available to purchase through the online entry system.

Course support and facilities

All courses will be fully marked, marshaled, and have aid stations (Marathon 4, Half 3, Woodland 2). Aid stations are described as well-stocked. First aid is available on course and at the event headquarters. Parking is provided; the event notes free parking (usually £6.00 per day).

Entry, age limits and requirements

Entries open 25 June 2025 and close 13 May 2026. Minimum ages (relative to event date) are: Marathon 20 years, Half-Marathon 18 years, Woodland Trail 17 years. The event is cupless; participants must carry personal drinking capacity. Compulsory kit for Half-Marathon and Marathon includes capacity to carry 1 litre water, trail shoes, waterproof jacket, whistle, mobile phone with emergency numbers, emergency food and a foil blanket. Woodland Trail runners must carry 250 ml water, trail shoes, a mobile phone and a foil blanket. Dogs are not permitted with runners during the race.
