Race The Tide : Flete Estate, Mothecombe

Race The Tide takes place at the Flete Estate in Mothecombe, South Devon. The event comprises three organised trail races on private estate tracks, bridle paths and coastal paths beside the Erme estuary and the South West Coast Path.

  • 8.5 miles Woodland Trail; 2 aid stations; minimum age 16.
  • 15.5 miles Long Half-Marathon; 3 aid stations; minimum age 17.
  • 28.5 miles Long Marathon; 4 aid stations; minimum age 18.

The routes combine private footpaths beside the quiet Erme estuary, bridle paths and coastal sections, including running along Bigbury beach and across the causeway to Burgh Island.

All courses are fully marked, marshaled by runners, and supported by well-stocked aid stations. First aid is available on course and at headquarters. Finishers receive a bespoke event medal; bespoke event T-shirts and other merchandise are available to purchase or reserve. Parking is listed as free; a typical charge is £6.00 per day. Dogs are not permitted with runners during the race.

The event operates a cupless policy and lists compulsory kit. Half-marathon and marathon runners must carry at least 1 litre of water, trail shoes, a waterproof jacket, whistle, mobile phone with emergency numbers, emergency food and a foil blanket. A new 100 mile team relay in South Devon on 19 July 2026, split into 16 legs from 5 km to just under 16 km. Teams of 10 to 16 runners compete for awards while the event raises funds for two local charities.

Pretty Muddy 5k in Central Park, Plymouth on 19 July 2026 is a mud obstacle course of climbs, crawls and slides over hardstanding, gravel and grass. It raises funds for cancer research and is open to participants aged 13 and over.

An informal Dartmoor trail run from Castle Drogo around the Teign Valley on 19 July 2026. About *11 ish* on good tracks at a social pace, with paid National Trust parking and a recommendation to wear trail shoes.

A 5.75 mile multi-terrain evening run in West Looe along the riverside and through Kilminorth and Trelawne Woods, starting and finishing at the Millpool Centre. Chip timing is planned and all profits go to Looe Lions local charities.
