Race The Tide - Flete Estate, Mothecombe, South Devon

Race The Tide is a trail running event held at the Flete Estate in Mothecombe, South Devon. Courses mix private estate tracks and woodland with quiet footpaths beside the Erme estuary, bridle paths and sections along the South West Coast Path, including a route that runs across Bigbury beach and the causeway to Burgh Island. The Long Marathon was listed in Runner's World Top 100 worldwide events in 2022.

There are three races:

  • 8.5-mile Woodland Trail: racing the tide at 7 miles; 2 aid stations; min age 16
  • 15.5-mile LONG Half-Marathon: racing the tide at 7 miles; 3 aid stations; min age 17
  • 28.5-mile LONG Marathon: racing the tide at 20 miles; 4 aid stations; min age 18

All courses are fully marked and marshaled, with aid stations on the longer routes. Finishers receive a bespoke event medal. Event T-shirts and other merchandise are available to purchase or reserve through the entry system. Parking is free (usually £6.00 per day). First aid cover is provided on course and at event headquarters. Dogs are not permitted with runners during the race.

Mandatory kit for half-marathon and marathon runners includes capacity to carry 1 litre of water, trail shoes, waterproof jacket, whistle, mobile phone with stored race contacts, emergency food and a foil blanket. Woodland Trail runners must carry 250 ml water capacity, trail shoes, a mobile phone with race contacts and a foil blanket. The event operates a cupless policy and does not provide plastic cups. A multi distance event along the Two Moors Way across Devon, featuring a 112 mile non stop coast to coast ultra plus 75 km, 100 km and marathon stages. Participants navigate the waymarked route with live GPS tracking and checkpoint support.

A guided countryside run from Bovey Tracey to Lustleigh and back, about 10.5 miles with roughly 2000 ft of ascent. The route follows paths and lanes via Shaptor Down and Gladstone Rock; trail shoes and a waterproof are recommended.

Experience the rugged beauty of the South West Coast Path in South Devon with three distance options. Runners follow a hilly multi-terrain course from Kingswear or Babbacombe to a scenic finish at Shaldon.

A 37 miles coast to coast ultra from Boscastle to Looe on 25 April 2026, crossing Bodmin Moor and supporting the East Cornwall Search & Rescue Team. The event features live GPS tracking, four checkpoints, on-course photography and medal..
