Race The Tide takes place on Saturday 16 May 2026 at the privately owned Flete Estate, Mothecombe, South Devon. The event is organised by OuterEdge Events and uses private footpaths, estuarine trails and sections of the South West Coast Path. The courses include woodland, bridle paths, fields, a beach section at Bigbury-on-Sea and a causeway crossing to Burgh Island. All races are digitally timed. Finishers receive a bespoke event medal and event t-shirts are available to purchase.

Race details

  • Long Marathon - approximately 28.5–29 miles, includes beach and causeway sections, 4 aid stations. Minimum age: 20 years.
  • Long Half-Marathon - 15–15.5 miles, combines woodland and estuarine trails before joining the coastal section, 3 aid stations. Minimum age: 18 years.
  • Watery Woodland Trail - 8.5 miles, mainly on private woodland and estuarine trails with three hills and 2 aid stations. Minimum age: 17 years.

All courses are fully marked and marshaled, with first aid on course and at headquarters. The event is cupless: runners must carry their own water. Compulsory kit for half-marathon and marathon includes capacity to carry 1 litre of water, trail shoes, waterproof jacket, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a foil blanket. Woodland Trail runners must carry at least 250 ml of water, trail shoes, a mobile phone and a foil blanket. Free parking is usually provided (usually £6.00 per day).
