Race The Tide

Race The Tide, Mothecombe (Flete Estate), South Devon

Race The Tide takes place on Saturday 22 May 2027 at the privately owned Flete Estate, Mothecombe. The event marks its tenth edition and offers three separate trail races that start and finish at Mothecombe (PL8 1LB).

• Long Marathon: almost 29 miles on tracks, South West Coast Path and beach sections.
• Long Half-Marathon: 15 miles combining woodland and estuarine trails.
• Watery Woodland Trail: 8.5 miles on private estate woodland and estuarine paths.

All routes use private footpaths, the South West Coast Path, bridle paths, fields and woodland. The Marathon includes a beach section at Bigbury-on-Sea and a crossing of the causeway to the privately owned Burgh Island, with estuary crossings at Wonwell beach as part of the route. The Half-Marathon features about 613 metres of ascent and follows the Marathon course for its final section. The Watery Woodland Trail tours the estate woodlands, includes three hills (around miles 4, 6 and 8), an aid station halfway and an estuary crossing near mile 7.5.

All three races are digitally timed. A finisher medal is provided to each finisher and a Race The Tide event t-shirt can be purchased via the online entry system up to a fortnight before race day.
