Race The Tide

Race The Tide takes place at Flete Estate in Mothecombe, South Devon. The event offers three running distances on a mixture of private footpaths, bridle paths, and coastal paths beside the Erme estuary and along the South West Coast Path.

The available races are:

  • An 8.5-mile Woodland Trail on the private estate.
  • A 15.5-mile Long Half Marathon.
  • A 28.5-mile Long Marathon.

The Long Marathon course includes a section across Bigbury beach and the causeway to Burgh Island. For the Long Marathon and Half Marathon races, runners must maintain an average speed of 4 mph to finish successfully. Each distance has a "racing the tide" section at a specific mile point.

All courses are fully marked and have marshals and aid stations. Free parking is available at the venue. Finishers of all races receive a bespoke event medal, and event T-shirts can be purchased online.

A compulsory kit list applies to all participants, requiring runners to carry their own water as the event is cupless. Requirements include trail shoes, a mobile phone, and an emergency foil blanket, with additional items like a waterproof jacket and whistle required for the half marathon and marathon distances.
