Overview
The Running Kind and Metta Performance are hosting a guided trail running training camp in the Catskill mountains, located north of New York City. The camp takes place over a weekend, focusing on a small group setting for individual coaching attention.
Camp Focus
The programming is designed to enhance trail running skills on mountainous terrain, which includes technical scrambles, runnable ridge lines, and long vertical climbs. In addition to on-trail experience, participants can join mental performance discussions led by Metta Performance.
Schedule
The camp begins on Friday with arrival, a social gathering, intention setting, and a Metta Performance session. Saturday features a long run of about 13 miles with 5000 ft of elevation gain, followed by lunch, a cold plunge, and coaching discussions. Sunday includes a shorter run of about 8 miles with 3000 ft of elevation gain before departure.
Participant Recommendations
The camp is recommended for runners who are healthy and in good fitness. It is suggested for road runners who can complete a half marathon in two hours or trail runners with at least one year of experience. The camp is not open to runners under the age of 21.
Preparation
The camp is designed to prepare runners for mountainous trail races in the Catskills, such as Manitou's Revenge, the Escarpment Trail Race, Climb It For Climate, and The Cat’s Tail.
Inclusions
The camp fee includes lodging for Friday and Saturday nights, running and mental performance coaching, meals on Saturday (breakfast, lunch, dinner), meals on Sunday (breakfast, lunch), a 25% discount on entry to the Climb It For Climate race, and a swag item.
